Ten years on, with thanks to Johann Rupert

On 1 August 2009, the SA Golf Development Board celebrated ten years of growing the game across the country. For the past decade, the board has been at the forefront of bringing new players to the sport and offering opportunities to children who would otherwise not be able to enjoy the game.

Some of our successes

After ten years of golf development, the SAGDB has coached over 17,000 youngsters and produced 56 junior provincial players. The board has facilitated the participation of over 1,500 players in South African Junior Golf Foundation (SAJGF) tournaments and 16 of its most talented players have been invited to join the prestigious Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation.

Good showing by SA Golf Development players at Girls Champs

The top girl players from the SA Golf Development Board were in Orkney recently for the Nomads SA Girls Championship. The event is the premier tournament on the South African girls golfing calendar.

Support City Lodge, support golf development

The City Lodge Group of Hotels is South Africa's leading hotel chain. The group has 43 hotels across the country, situated from Potchefstroom to Pinelands.

Golf instructors empowered to coach in communities

The SA Golf Development Board in partnership with Department of Sport and Recreation are working together to grow golf in the Amajuba District. The two organisations recently held a golf instructors course for 17 keen golfers from Newcastle, Madadeni Township, Kilbarchan, Utrecht and Dannhauser. More...
