Future stars turn heads at Sports Trust Challenge

The Sports Trust, in partnership with Nedbank and Sun International, has become a key supporter of the SAGDB, through providing much needed funding to drive the growth of golf across South Africa. Last month, The Sports Trust donated half a million rand to the SAGDB for clothing and equipment for its coaches and top players.

SAGDB graduates shine in NGC Pro-Am

Three former SAGDB players were invited to compete in this year's Nedbank Golf Challenge pro-am at the Gary Player Country Club at Sun City. This is the second year running that the SAGDB has asked to send players to take part in the competition, which takes place on the day before the main event.

Granwell does it again

For the second year in a row, Granwell Gelderbloem has been chosen for the EP u/18 team to compete in the annual inter-provincial tournament. Granwell made the cut last year at the age of just 15, and this year the 16-year old from Andrew Rabie High School will have another shot at the best junior golfers in the country.

Shane and Keelan off to IPT

The two leading players from the SAGDB's programme in Boland, 17-year old Shane Ross and 15-year old Keelan Africa have both been selected for the Boland u/18 team to compete in this year's inter-provincial tournament. The two finished fourth and sixth respectively on the Boland u/18 order of merit to earn their places in the team.

About the SAGDB

The SAGDB is a non-profit organisation (with section 18A donations tax exemption status). Through its PGA-approved coaching programme, the board currently has the capacity to coach 1,500 children per week in nine areas. The SAGDB is sponsored by SAA, City Lodge and ProRange.
