Letsoso joins Ernie's Foundation

Sixteen year old Letsoso Letsai from Qwa-Qwa has become the latest member of the SAGDB to be invited to join the Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation (EEFF). Letsoso has signed as an associate member from 2015.

Great memories from Nedbank Pro Am

It has become an annual tradition for Nedbank and Sun City through The Sports Trust to invite the SAGDB to send two players to compete at the Nedbank Golf Challenge Pro Am. The tournament is a fantastic opportunity for amateurs to play with the top pros who will take on the Gary Player Country Club just a few days later.

SAGDB youngsters play their part at IPT

This year's u19 Inter-Provincial Tournament (IPT) played in Belville saw eight SAGDB players competing for five different provinces. And each of them made an important contribution.

Border players finish the year on a high

The final junior tournament for 2013 in the Border region was held at the West Bank golf course in November. The SAGDB entered 16 players into this event, and five of them returned with prizes.

Festive wishes from the SAGDB

On behalf of the board, our staff and most importantly the learners in our programmes, thank you for your continued support and encouragement.

2013 has been an excellent year for the SAGDB and we look forward to many more successes in the year ahead.


About the SAGDB

The South African Golf Development Board (SAGDB) is a non-profit organisation with section 18A donations tax exemption status. Since its formation in 1999, the SAGDB has grown a network of coaches and officials who work across the country to develop the game in the cities and also the most remote areas. It currently operates in Boland, Border, the Eastern Province, Free State, Gauteng Central, Gauteng North, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, the Southern Cape, and Western Province.

Through its PGA-approved LTAD coaching programme, the board currently has the capacity to coach 2,500 children per week in 10 regions.

Since its inception, the SAGDB has coached over 17 000 youngsters, produced 1 senior national player and 4 players in the senior national squad, 25 senior provincial and u23 players, 108 junior provincial players, and four players in the senior national squad. Over 1 500 players have participated in junior golf tournaments and 34 of its most talented players have been invited to join prestigious and recognised High Performance Centres such as the Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation. Six former SAGDB players have earned their tour cards on the Sunshine Tour.
