Crystal picked for IPT

One of the SAGDB's most promising girls, 12-year old Crystal Beukes, has been chosen as part of the six member Boland ladies team for the 2013 Womens Golf SA Inter-Provincial Tournament (IPT). This is a huge boost for her young career, as the IPT is one of the biggest events on the annual ladies golf calendar.

SAGDB players propelled into FS & NC teams

The Sishen Junior Golf Open played during August was the last local event on the Free State & Northern Cape Junior Golf calendar. The 36-hole tournament was played over the Sishen Golf Course, one of the toughest in the country.

Accolades for Zethu

Former SAGDB player Zethu Myeki from East London has enjoyed a fantastic last few weeks. The 20-year old won the Eastern Province and Border Championships played in Port Alfred during August, and was then given the news that she has been selected to represent Border at the upcoming Womens Golf SA 2013 Inter-Provincial Tournament (IPT).

SAGDB players show their mettle for Mpumalanga

About the SAGDB

The South African Golf Development Board (SAGDB) is a non-profit organisation with section 18A donations tax exemption status. Since its formation in 1999, the SAGDB has grown a network of coaches and officials who work across the country to develop the game in the cities and also the most remote areas. It currently operates in Boland, Border, the Eastern Province, Free State, Gauteng Central, Gauteng North, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, the Southern Cape, and Western Province.

Through its PGA-approved LTAD coaching programme, the board currently has the capacity to coach 2,500 children per week in 10 regions.

Since its inception, the SAGDB has coached over 17 000 youngsters, produced 1 senior national player and 4 players in the senior national squad, 25 senior provincial and u23 players, 108 junior provincial players, and four players in the senior national squad. Over 1 500 players have participated in junior golf tournaments and 34 of its most talented players have been invited to join prestigious and recognised High Performance Centres such as the Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation. Six former SAGDB players have earned their tour cards on the Sunshine Tour.
