Dylan in top 10 at SA Boys u17

Talented 16-year old Dylan Jacobs delivered a strong performance at the recent Nomads SA Boys u17 Championships held in Polokwane. The Boland youngster shot 18-hole scores of 76, 70, 72 and 73 to claim a share of sixth place in the field of 123 players.

SAGDB players shine in KZN

Sixteen players with links to the SAGDB entered the recent KZN Department of Sport & Recreation Championships played at Umhlali Country Club. The tournament attracted a number of players who have come through development programmes in the region along with a number of the province's top players.

Two new chapters in KZN

The SAGDB has launched two new coaching chapters in its KwaZulu-Natal programme. The new operations will bring the total number of SAGDB coaching chapters in the region to seven.

Free State gets boost from The Pro Shop

The Pro Shop has made a big contribution to golf development in the Free State by donating 30 000 practice balls to the SAGDB programme in the region. The balls will be distributed to coaching chapters across the province.

About the SAGDB

The South African Golf Development Board (SAGDB) is a non-profit organisation with section 18A donations tax exemption status. Since its formation in 1999, the SAGDB has grown a network of coaches and officials who work across the country to develop the game in the cities and also the most remote areas. It currently operates in Boland, Border, the Eastern Province, Free State, Gauteng Central, Gauteng North, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, the Southern Cape, and Western Province.

Through its PGA-approved LTAD coaching programme, the board currently has the capacity to coach 2,500 children per week in 10 regions.

Since its inception, the SAGDB has coached over 17 000 youngsters, produced 1 senior national player and 4 players in the senior national squad, 25 senior provincial and u23 players, 108 junior provincial players, and four players in the senior national squad. Over 1 500 players have participated in junior golf tournaments and 34 of its most talented players have been invited to join prestigious and recognised High Performance Centres such as the Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation. Six former SAGDB players have earned their tour cards on the Sunshine Tour.
