Great result for Cole and Hilmi in Jakarta

Gauteng's Cole Stevens grabbed a top five finish in the 13-14 age group at the Ciputra Enjoy Jakarta World Junior Golf Championship this month, while fellow SAGDB junior Hilmi Mallick from Western Province finished just outside the top 10 in the 15-17 age group.

Gerhard given the chance he deserves

Gerhard Pepler is currently on top of the Limpopo Golf Union junior stroke averages. The 16 year old is also the Limpopo Junior Strokeplay champion.

SAGDB players shine at WP Boys & Girls Championship

A total of 23 players from the SAGDB entered the Grindrod WP Boys & Girls Junior Championship held at Somerset West Golf Club last month. The tournament begins with a strokeplay competition, which then also serves as a qualifier for the matchplay championships.

Andre wins in Parys

Fifteen year old Andre van Dyk from Klerksdorp may be competing against boys older than himself, but he's not taking any steps back. The SAGDB player won the overall title at the recent Vaal de Grace Junior Open in Parys even though he wasn't competing in the u19 division.

About the SAGDB

 

The South African Golf Development Board (SAGDB) is a non-profit organisation with section 18A donations tax exemption status. Since its formation in 1999, the SAGDB has grown a network of coaches and officials who work across the country to develop the game in the cities and also the most remote areas. It currently operates in Boland, Border, Central Gauteng, the Eastern Province, Free State, Gauteng North, Kwazulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, the Northern Cape, North West, the Southern Cape, and Western Province.

 

Through its PGA-approved LTAD coaching programme, the board currently has the capacity to coach 2,500 children per week in 10 regions.

 

Since its inception, the SAGDB has coached over 17 000 youngsters, produced 1 senior national player and 4 players in the senior national squad, 25 senior provincial and u23 players, 108 junior provincial players, and four players in the senior national squad. Over 1 500 players have participated in junior golf tournaments and 34 of its most talented players have been invited to join prestigious and recognised High Performance Centres such as the Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation. Six former SAGDB players have earned their tour cards on the Sunshine Tour.
