Hans-Jurie plays his part in the Southern Cape's historic win

The Southern Cape claimed an historic victory at this year's South African Inter-Provincial Championship played in Port Alfred. The team defeated Gauteng North 7.5 to 4.5 in the final round to take the title for the first time in the event's 56 year history.

Nedbank Golf Challenge backs the SAGDB once again

The leading juniors in the SAGDB's programme in the Boland put in outstanding performances at two recent events in the province. They made their presence felt at both the De Zalze Junior Closed and Paarl Glacier events over the last month.

Zethu on the podium again

SAGDB graduate Zethu Myeki continued her outstanding form with a third-place finish at the recent Ekurhuleni Championship in Benoni. The Border golfer shot rounds of 79, 75 and 70 to finish with the top three.

Ethan helps Paarl GC to third at SA Junior Club Champs

One of the SAGDB's top players in the Boland, Ethan Smith, was part of the Paarl Golf Club side that competed at the 2016 Louis Oosthuizen SA Junior Golf Championship at Mossel Bay Golf Club last month. The event pits top junior club sides against each other for the national title.

About the SAGDB


The South African Golf Development Board (SAGDB) is a non-profit organisation with section 18A donations tax exemption status. Since its formation in 1999, the SAGDB has grown a network of coaches and officials who work across the country to develop the game in the cities and also the most remote areas. It currently operates in Boland, Border, Central Gauteng, the Eastern Province, Free State, Gauteng North, Kwazulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, the Northern Cape, North West, the Southern Cape, and Western Province.


Through its PGA-approved LTAD coaching programme, the board currently has the capacity to coach 2,500 children per week in 10 regions.


Since its inception, the SAGDB has coached over 17 000 youngsters, produced 1 senior national player and 4 players in the senior national squad, 25 senior provincial and u23 players, 108 junior provincial players, and four players in the senior national squad. Over 1 500 players have participated in junior golf tournaments and 34 of its most talented players have been invited to join prestigious and recognised High Performance Centres such as the Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation. Six former SAGDB players have earned their tour cards on the Sunshine Tour.
