SAGDB players excel on the Festive Tour

Over the summer holidays the Central Gauteng Golf Union ran the Festive Tour for junior golfers in the province. Three tournaments were played in December and January, and SAGDB players did extremely well in all of them.

Kifentse accepted into Silver Lakes Academy

Kifentse Nukeri ended last year as the SAGDB's top player in Gauteng North and one of the board's most successful juniors in the country. Having now left school, however, he is moving into a new chapter in his life.

Myeki makes some major moves

Great return for Ekurhuleni juniors

Players from the SAGDB's programme in Ekurhuleni put in an excellent showing at the recent EGU junior tournament at ERPM Golf Club. They were near the top of the leaderboard in all three divisions.

About the SAGDB

The South African Golf Development Board (SAGDB) is a non-profit organisation with section 18A donations tax exemption status. Since its formation in 1999, the SAGDB has grown a network of coaches and officials who work across the country to develop the game in the cities and also the most remote areas. It currently operates in Boland, Border, Central Gauteng, the Eastern Province, Free State, Gauteng North, Kwazulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, the Northern Cape, North West, the Southern Cape, and Western Province.


Through its PGA-approved LTAD coaching programme, the board currently has the capacity to coach 2,500 children per week in 10 regions.


Since its inception, the SAGDB has coached over 17 000 youngsters, produced 1 senior national player and 4 players in the senior national squad, 25 senior provincial and u23 players, 108 junior provincial players, and four players in the senior national squad. Over 1 500 players have participated in junior golf tournaments and 34 of its most talented players have been invited to join prestigious and recognised High Performance Centres such as the Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation. Six former SAGDB players have earned their tour cards on the Sunshine Tour.
