Cole takes fourth in Durban

One of the SAGDB's top juniors in Central Gauteng, Cole Stevens, put in an excellent performance at the recent Nomads National Order of Merit Coastal tournament at Royal Durban Golf Club. The 16 year finished fourth in a field that included many of the country's top juniors.

Rorisang shines at SA Boys u15

Rorisang Nkosi played some outstanding golf at the recent SA Boys Under-15 Championship in George. The North West youngster was consistently near the top of the leaderboard at the 54-hole event at Kingswood Golf Club.

SAGDB presence felt at SA u19 IPT

A host of players from the SAGDB turned out for their respective provincial teams at last year's South African Under-19 Inter-Provincial at East London Golf Club. The tournament is the premier boys junior tournament in the country.

SAGDB showcases talent at Golf Challenge

The annual SAGDB/Nomads/Imperial Auto/MFC Golf Challenge was once again a tremendous success in 2017. Played at Akasia Golf Club in Pretoria towards the end of December, the event brought together the top players from the SAGDB's regions across the country in an inter-provincial format.

Doing the IRONMAN for the SAGDB

When the competitors line up for this year's IRONMAN triathlon in Port Elizabeth, there will be one international entrant carrying more than just the ambition of finishing one of Africa's toughest races. Belgian Matthieu Vanpeteghem will also be setting out to honour his late cousin Boris Coesens by raising money for the SAGDB.

SAGDB graduate Makhetha Mazibuko has put in a number of good performances on the IGT Challenge Tour. His form continued at the recent Race to Q-School Series event played at Killarney Country Club.

About the SAGDB

The South African Golf Development Board (SAGDB) is a non-profit organisation with section 18A donations tax exemption status. Since its formation in 1999, the SAGDB has grown a network of coaches and officials who work across the country to develop the game in the cities and also the most remote areas. It currently operates in Boland, Border, Central Gauteng, the Eastern Province, Free State, Gauteng North, Kwazulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, the Northern Cape, North West, the Southern Cape, and Western Province.


Through its PGA-approved LTAD coaching programme, the board currently has the capacity to coach 2,500 children per week in 10 regions.


Since its inception, the SAGDB has coached over 17 000 youngsters, produced 1 senior national player and 4 players in the senior national squad, 25 senior provincial and u23 players, 108 junior provincial players, and four players in the senior national squad. Over 1 500 players have participated in junior golf tournaments and 34 of its most talented players have been invited to join prestigious and recognised High Performance Centres such as the Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation. Six former SAGDB players have earned their tour cards on the Sunshine Tour.
