The Bridge Fund Managers Junior Series has quickly established itself as in integral part of the local junior golfing calendar. It provides young golfers with the chance to compete against the best of their peers from across the country in proper tournament conditions.

Angelo on a roll

The SAGDB's Angelo Keffers could not have had a better start to 2019. The 15 year old won the first three Boland junior tournaments on the trot, setting the standard for the year in emphatic fashion.

Jacquin Hess returns to his roots

It is always a treat for learners in the SAGDB to be given a coaching clinic by a golfer from the professional ranks. It is particularly special when that player is himself a graduate of the SAGDB.

Duma sisters make history

As learners within the SAGDB, Siviwe and Yolande Duma were trailblazers. The two sisters from Mdantsane in Border were the first girls in the programme to make a name for themselves on the national stage.

Fanele earns spot in Ernie's foundation

KwaZulu-Natal's Fanelesibonge Hlophe has become the latest SAGDB graduate to be accepted into the Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation (EEFF). The youngster from Durban joins fellow KZN players Siyanda Mwandla and Thabiso Magwaza in the prestigious programme.

About the SAGDB

The South African Golf Development Board (SAGDB) is a non-profit organisation with section 18A donations tax exemption status. Since its formation in 1999, the SAGDB has grown a network of coaches and officials who work across the country to develop the game in the cities and also the most remote areas. It currently operates in Boland, Border, Central Gauteng, the Eastern Province, Free State, Gauteng North, Kwazulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, the Northern Cape, North West, the Southern Cape, and Western Province.

 

Through its PGA-approved LTAD coaching programme, the board currently has the capacity to coach 2,500 children per week in 10 regions.

 

Since its inception, the SAGDB has coached over 17 000 youngsters, produced 1 senior national player and 4 players in the senior national squad, 25 senior provincial and u23 players, 108 junior provincial players, and four players in the senior national squad. Over 1 500 players have participated in junior golf tournaments and 34 of its most talented players have been invited to join prestigious and recognised High Performance Centres such as the Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation. Six former SAGDB players have earned their tour cards on the Sunshine Tour.
